I think I am officially over Dell and as soon as I can afford it, I am buying a new non-Dell laptop. For starters, I am always skeptical of a company that has to bring its founder-CEO out of retirement to rescue it from the dumps. But the main reason is that my computer is two years old and Ive already gone through two keyboards and countless other tiny but supremely annoying issues with this little piece of plastic and electronics. And now that the warranty has run out, I need yet another keyboard. The letters e, r, t, s, d, c, n, b and the backspace key all are rubbed off (thank goodness for all those childhood hours playing Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing) and I have lost functionality in my question mark, apostrophe, backspace, delete, plus-equal sign, and up and right arrow keys. Cant even begin to tell you how frustrating it is to not have  apostrophe and question mark functionality. AND Im stuck using the Calculator instead of Excel because my equal sign key doesnt work  so I cant do simple math formulas.  sigh.

The good news is that my third keyboard is on its way to me — via Houston, Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville and Roanoke according to UPS. Seems to me that surely there is a more direct route from Houston to Washington DC but hey, what do I know  <question mark>. I sorely miss my Jamaica Plain UPS delivery guys.

Meanwhile, my new employer wants me in Lesotho by Jan 21 and Im getting my wisdom teeth pulled on Jan 15. The panic of my move is starting to set in ….
