Today marks the beginning of my last year in my 20s. It’s an odd thing, really. Birthdays often are. You know you’re turning older but everything feels the same. I look back on my 28th year — the return of Saturn — and wonder if my life changed as drastically as it is rumored to when Saturn returns to the place in the sky it occupied when you were born. On the face of things … eh. I don’t really feel like my 28th year marked anything particularly extraordinary. I went to class, I worked a summer internship job, spent too many hours on Facebook … you know, same old.
On the other hand, I did just finish up graduate school, became an aunt, and accepted a job in Africa in my 28th year. So check back with me in a year and I’ll let you know how the decisions I made this year have perhaps changed the course of my life
Something tells me, I might have more to say on the matter. All I know is, I am a bit nervous and a lot excited about what this next year might bring! I think that’s the best part about birthdays – the anticipation of all the adventures to happen before the next birthday.
Thanks so much to everyone who sent along bday wishes, Facebook messages, emails, phone calls, and tweets! I received two email cards that I thought were particular amusing and wanted to share them with you all:

Jesus only got gold, incense and myrrh. I got comfy slippers! Ha!

I used to get separate presents but as I've gotten older, somehow Dec 19 and Dec 25 have gotten closer...
